So I will admit it. I've been rather disappointed that the job offers have not come pouring in since I graduated with my master's degree. In fact, the only offer I've received was an offer for an unpaid, three-month internship at a publishing house in Dallas, and they couldn't guarantee that I would be hired after the internship. Personally, I would be embarrassed to offer someone with a master's degree an unpaid internship, especially when I knew that they had already participated in two internships during their coursework, but they seemed to think they were offering me a huge favor.
Oh well.
So the job search continues. I had an interview in Houston that I am waiting to hear back from. It is an editorial assistant position, and it sounds pretty cool. But otherwise, the whole process has been just as, if not more, discouraging as ever. I suppose it's a sign of the times.
This past weekend was a nice reprieve from life. I went with Philip to stay with his parents in Corpus Christi for the long weekend, and I had a great time. His parents, aunt, and grandpa are all very nice people who made me feel welcome in their family, and it was fun getting to hang out with them. Philip and I also got to go to the beach with a couple of his friends, where he taught me how to body board. I'm still terrified of the ocean, and the copious amounts of seaweed in the water that were constantly wrapping around my legs weren't helpful, but I had an awesome time. His mom and aunt took me to get my nails done with them, and that was a blast, too. The weekend went way too quickly!
So now it's back to the job searching, I guess. I wish I had the luxury of being able to move and then job search, since it would be much easier to interview if I lived in the same city as where I am searching. But when you have a horse, let alone three, you have to make sure you have a source of income to support it. Just another part of being a responsible horse owner.
So--anyone want to buy a horse? :)
