Rosa

 Aces Especial Peppy
2012 Quarter Horse mare

In 2012, I halter broke several weanlings for the Texas A&M CVM, one of which was a little bay filly. At the end of the summer, the people in charge decided to adopt out the weanlings and their dams, and although I wanted to take "Rosa," there was a slip-up, and she was given away to someone else.

A year later, I was perusing Craigslist when I stumbled upon a horse that I thought might be Rosa. There was a (blurry) picture of the filly's papers included in the photos, and I was able to barely make out the dam's name. I was overjoyed when I discovered that it was the same horse! I emailed the guy and made him a pretty low offer – I already had two horses at the time and really didn't need a third, but I wanted to give it a shot – and he accepted.

In October of 2013, I loaded her up and brought her home. She hadn't really had any work done with her, and she gave me major grief every time I tried to catch her. For the first month or two I was pretty sure I had made a mistake, but she has since transformed into a wonderful pony. I fell in love with her attitude and her personality as I saddle-broke her, and suddenly, my project horse became my next lifelong horse. I show her in SHTX events.
