Ruger

2012 Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Ruger entered our lives completely by accident in the Fall of 2017. Philip and I had been talking about getting a Corgi puppy at some point, when one day, one of my co-workers came into work with this filthy adult male Corgi that needed a home. Apparently he had been chasing his previous owners' chickens, and they were going to shoot him, but he was rescued by a neighbor. I texted Philip a photo of him, and he was sold.

I took "Biscuit," who we renamed "Ruger," as he refused to respond to Biscuit, straight to a self-serve dog grooming place and gave him a much needed bath, then brought him home. He had to learn that chasing the cat was NOT an option, and he and Fiona had some hierarchy issues to work out (she's almost half his size, but she makes up for it in tenacity). He has since become a very sweet and loving guy, though he definitely has a personal space bubble. He gruffs when he wants attention and whines when we talk to the cats (apparently that's not allowed), and he's decided that Philip is his person. They "understand each other," according to Philip... which, alright. I guess he can have one.
