About

Howdy, and welcome to my blog! My name is Kristin:

I am a native Texan and a big animal lover. My husband affectionately refers to me as "Snow White," joking that animals come running whenever I call. Sometimes that's great, like when it's a field of puppies or prairie dogs or whatever. But, when you also seem to be a magnet for scorpions in your own home, not so much!

I have been riding horses for more than 20 years. I started off riding Western Pleasure horses, then switched to Hunter Under Saddle/Equitation. I've ridden on rodeo drill teams, dabbled in jumping, shown Arabian Country Pleasure, played around with showmanship, and currently, I am training for the reining/cow horse pens. I own two horses — a retired Appaloosa mare I've had for 21 years, and a Quarter Horse mare that I currently show. I work as a freelance writer in the equine industry.

I love dogs and cats just as much as horses and also enjoy reptiles, fish, and small animals. Some day, I hope to have a farm with all kinds of critters, but since we live in the city right now, our current zoo is made up of three dogs, two cats and a Betta fish, in addition to the horses.

My other passion in traveling. I'm constantly torn between wanting to be home with all my pets and wanting to see the world. I have quite a few travel bucket list goals, and I'm slowly working to check some of them off (though COVID hasn't helped). As I do, I'll document my travels here to give you ideas and suggestions for when you visit!

Thanks for stopping by!
